Closing Night 2012 and the film More To Live For - will present a unique opportunity for filmgoers and music lovers to See A Film, Listen To A Concert And Save A Life!
The Connecticut Film Festival is very pleased to host The Connecticut Premiere of “More To Live For” followed by a Tribute Jazz Concert to the great Tenor Saxophone legend: Michael Brecker.
More To Live For (Director Noah Hutton –son of Timothy Hutton) is a film of tragedy and loss and strength and hope. It presents the stories of three individuals facing life and death, and their commitment to making a difference.
It is the story of three lives, all shaken by cancer and dependent upon that one vital bone marrow match that could save their life. These individuals are similar only in their fate and prolific accomplishments: Michael Brecker, 15-time Grammy winner, one of the greatest tenor saxophonists of all time; James Chippendale, entertainment executive and founder of The Love Hope Strength foundation, the largest music centric cancer charity in the world and Seun Adebiyi, a young Nigerian training to become the first ever Nigerian winter Olympic athlete in any sport.
Their unrelated paths become connected in a desperate fight for survival and a singular mission: to bring awareness about bone marrow donation to the millions of people who could save a life today. These deeply personal accounts of confronting illness will inspire hope and action, leaving the viewer empowered to become part of the cure.

After the intermission, the audience will be treated to a Concert to Celebrate Michael Brecker, featuring The Roger Ball Quintet. Roger was the tenor sax player and a former founding member of the Average White Band. He knew Michael and they had played together on several occasions.
Roger will lead the evening’s house band to host an invitational jam session of monstrous Jazz and Funk players from the NY Metropolitan area, many of who were inspired by Michael and others who had performed with him over the years.
The evening will kick off with a Red Carpet reception followed by “More To Live For” Catered by Some Things Fish Catering, and the donor testing will take place during an intermission between the screening and the concert.
