Welcome to the 2011 Connecticut Film Festival In Old Saybrook CT. The primary venue for film screenings will be The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (affectionately known as The Kate).
The weekend will feature more than 60 films, 15 industry educational workshops and panels and of course 4 great receptions with fine food from Somethings Fishy Catering and beverages including Thomas Hooker Beer, Fine Wines and Non- Alcoholic Beverages From Pink Monkey Water of New Milford!

Inspired both by the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9th, 2009 and August 13, 2011, the 50th anniversary of the construction of the Berlin Wall, Behind The Wall documents life on both sides of the Wall through the eyes of ordinary citizens from East and West Germany, giving an in-depth and overlooked perspective of life before, during and after the Wall.

Michael Gavin and his partner Daniel have traded life in New York City for the charm of Connecticut’s shoreline. An English teacher at a private high school, Michael’s world is turned upside down when he's accused of engaging in 'inappropriate behavior' with a male student.
Sobran Jodeau (Jérémie Renier), is an ambitious young peasant winemaker in early 19th Century France who juggles his time between the three loves of his life; his beautiful and passionate wife Celeste (Oscar nominee: Keisha Castle-Hughes), the intellectual baroness Aurora de Valday (Vera Farmiga) and Xas (Gaspard Ulliel)., a fallen angel, and an unconventional mentor.
In 1944, a US Army company of 280 African American service men were commanded to dig the largest cemetery in World War II, interring over 28,000. Connecticut resident; Jeff Wiggins (the last known surviving grave digger) was interviewed during the making the sobering documentary: The Fields of Margraten. Jeff Wiggins and his wife Janice will lead an interactive discussion before and after the film. The audience will close out The Kate’s festival with a reception in the lobby.
